Directed by Justus Sanchez, Slam Academy played host to three bar-barians, rattling their cypher ready sabers over Adatrak’s scratch-tastic beat. Set off by St. Paul’s own Orikal Uno, his charismatic cadence carried out his verbal catastrophes with a suave & blinding finesse that he needed to rock the double shade swag. The battle-tested Illab picked up where Uno left off to rampage with his gruff vocal tone, capturing the punk essence while weaving together heavy mental raps to drown listeners in his pools of thought. Not to be outdone, North Minneapolis MC Vinny Crook$ arrived to revive the passion of the Stretch & Bobbito freestyles & deliver a bible’s worth of bars with purpose & infectious intensity, reminding his peers that he’s in a class of his own. Clocking in just above five minutes, DJ Adatrak’s phone influenced production proved to dial into the most tenacious talent of the Twin Cities, as seen within his skilled VJ sets curating the best in local cinematography.
