As it has become customary for Brother Ali’s headlining tours, the Rhymesayer likes to create a tour song featuring each of his tour mates to close out the show each night. Although this year, Ali has outdone himself by producing the soul infused beat as well as closing out the track.
Being that he has been touring for over a decade, Brother Ali has found a successful strategy when it comes to arranging his concerts.
“Anyone who’s experienced my headlining tours knows that I like to have one DJ and one host for the entire evening and I choose my support artists very carefully,” said Brother Ali’s statement for the song’s video.
For his first national tour in 2 years, Brother Ali has recruited Twin Cities popular party starters MaLLy and Get Cryphy’s Last Word as his host and DJ. While on his first national tour, MaLLy is learning valuable tour lessons with the help from his traveling cohorts.
“The most valuable lesson that I’m taking in right now is: Treat your body as good as possible by eating right, laying off of the bottle for a while and staying active so you don’t come home resembling Elvis in his final years,” said MaLLy. “All in all, I just want to reflect and recognize I didn’t get here on my own. Although it may look like I’m shouldering a lot, I have help and guidance from everyone around me i.e. my Creator, Brother Ali, Bambu, Last Word, and all my family and true friends back home praying for me.”
Although the tour is only a week in, the journey is full of surprises at every twist and turn.
“Nobody told me that me Colorado Springs’ Denny’s has the best cup of water to drink with French Toast,” said MaLLy.
Along with the constant encounters with fans from all over the U.S., MaLLy, like the rest of his tour mates are optimistic about meeting their loyal fanbases.
“I have these pre-drawn visions of what these places look and smell like and can’t wait to see if they live up to my own hype,” said MaLLy.
“There are a lot of (fans) that I have been seeing for a long time,” said Brother Ali in his pre-tour video. “I’ve actually make a tour plan and when I see a certain city, I know fans that have come and I see (their) face and I genuinely pray that (they) will be there.”
Yet contrary to his line in the song, MaLLy hopes that fans show appreciation in other ways.
“I’d rather a fan buy my CD or T-Shirt,” said MaLLy. “That way they (especially the female fans) could say ‘I took MaLLy home with me.’”
