Cypher Saturdays Starts With Shade on “Prince Stare Bih”

As if you needed another reason to look forward to the weekend, Rez Rap’s own Baby Shel has vowed to unite & ignite the strength of the Sota in his new series, Cypher Saturdays. From March 3rd through May 5th, the team will bring together some of the coldest MCs from across the state to demolish an instrumental chosen by the people & prove that Minnesota has some heat.

In its inaugural week, the crew decided to pay homage to Minnesota’s favourite son, Prince and his infamous propensity for shade over Metro Boomin’s rousing banger, “Ric Flair Drip.” Baby Shel sets it off with his dexterous flow to relate what it really means to be living in the land of lakes as Devon Reason follows up with a reason for Young Metro to link up with The Rotation member for a track of his own. The song switches into the strange and psychedelic world of the Trip God, Will Robinson as he proves that you need a strong mind to keep up with his rhymes. Mill City Collective’s Reed Benjamin soon booms with breathless intensity as he lives up to the name KOB, leaving the way for Big Mo-Berg to clean up with an all-star barrage of bars to leave rappers to watch their step.

Check out the track above and be sure to subscribe to Cypher Saturdays on Facebook and Soundcloud for Week 2 this weekend.
